Mafia II is a PC action game developed by 2k Games focused on exploration and mafia jobs for being the most influential gangster of Empire Bay. The title is the sequel to Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, but it changes the characters that appear. Its main protagonist is Vito Scaletta, a poor Sicilian born that tries to improve his and his family’s life.
Compared to the first title, the specifically built next-generation graphics engine developed by the Czech division of 2K, Illusion Engine, is pretty advanced, showing better human models in a realistic way. The cars’ details show a great work in its design that can be destroyed and the crash effects will be externally appreciable. The technical aspect will let the gamers to be immersed into the golden American gangster era.
This series has captivated the video games’ world, with above 2 million players, thanks to its original mature story with a good environment work reflexing the America’s early ‘50s after the WWII. Improved hand-to-hand battles as well as the gunfights bring more action to the Mafia world. The depth of its storyline along with its compelling way for the narrated events really makes this game to be in another dimension for serious titles.
This third person action-packed game really introduces you into the mob scene. The main protagonist Vito Scaletta, along with Joe, will be in charge of accomplishing different kinds of missions. As you go increasing your influence, your territory will be expanding to other areas, but that could be dangerous due to other mafia groups such as the Triads.
There are a good amount of guns and weapons that can be increased thanks to additional content available to download. The videogame allows you to roam free around Empire Bay, a city which resembles Chicago and New York. In case you don’t want to follow the main story path, you also can play for fun, walking on the streets, stealing cars, fighting against people and running away from the police. Mafia II is set in the golden age of the Cosa Nostra in a fictional city, Empire Bay. We really will not be known, because the streets seem a replica of New York-Torres included- twin influences mixed with San Francisco, Chicago and Detroit, in the decades of 40 and 50. Fans of The Godfather enjoy as never before with this game, even the official movie adaptations introduce family get in the way that makes this production of 2K Czech.
The argument begins with the knavery of the young Vito in North America, an Italian immigrant who one day is stuck at work. The government offers an alternative to avoid jail, participate in the Second World War as a soldier, which he accepted. Vito and begin a short chapter, which acts as a basic tutorial to show the controls, which we attacked a building and learn the use of weapons and coverage. In this sense, Mafia II is controlled in a fairly traditional way to other action games, something more rigid than expected, but also funny and realistic. In a pad, front triggers are used to point and shoot digital address crosshead to select weapons, and buttons for performing actions and other movements, such as hedges or walk bent.
Without going into details of the story, Vito will return to North America and then encounter a serious problem. His father is dead and his family has a large debt, the protagonist who turns the world of theft along with his old friend Joe Barbaro. From here, Mafia II will begin to narrate the rise of these gangsters by smuggling business, death, extortion and of course, winning quite a few enemies.
- The main value of the game is its plot, its characters, and the city atmosphere com qde its incredible views
- shootings are quite spectacular thanks to the strength of weapons as part of the scenarios are destructible
- It is too easy on the normal difficulty level, and that can lead to the experience can be a bit light for some experienced players

If you enjoyed playing Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, you will definitely love its sequel, Mafia II. This intense adventure game follows the story of Vito Scaletta who became a member of the Falcone crime family. The story is set in a fictional city called Empire Bay. The mob story of this game is great as compared to other games that offer shallow storylines. The realistic controls make it more enjoyable to play. Another thing that I like about it is the cover mechanic. In shootouts, the player can take cover behind objects within his vicinity. At the same time, the player can use various vehicles during the game. He can choose from trailers, cars, station wagons and many more. There are new weapons that were added that makes it more action-packed. Also, there is hand-to-hand combat aside from the usual shooting which adds variety to it. With a striking and impressive interface and strong plot, you will never get tired of playing this action game.
- Offers exciting action with great storyline
- Select from various weapons and detailed vehicles
- Limited action on the open world

Mafia II keeps the high standards of its previous version but when it comes in giving real sensation of freedom this game is not good. This game has an excellent driving experience, and the graphics are brilliant, but these features don’t help this game to reach the peak of its genre. But still, this game is a type of a game that you must try. In this game, the driving is one of the biggest improvement than its previous series, so when you are driving some car in this game, it feels like you are driving a real car. When it comes with a map, it is now in the radar of your screen, and it is now better than the previous series. The guns in Mafia II are all fun to use, although all the pistols in this game have the same power. However, the fight scenes are much better than the first Mafia series, and this game was really amazing game, but before you install and play this game, you must have the required specs to have a good game experience.
- You can do lots of things
- You can have this game for free
- The sound effects are not good
